About Dr. Simovitch

Dr. Ryan W. Simovitch is the Director of the Shoulder Division at HSS Florida. He specializes in complex arthroscopic and open surgery of the shoulder including shoulder replacement and revision shoulder replacement.

Dr. Simovitch has been a shoulder surgeon for 16 years. He has researched and published extensively on the topic of shoulder arthroplasty helping to pioneer new techniques, develop cutting edge implants and determine how best to provide successful outcomes to patients undergoing shoulder replacement. He has lectured and presented at national and international meetings and is very involved in teaching younger surgeons the principles and techniques of shoulder replacement and arthroscopic rotator cuff and labral repair techniques. He is also a reviewer for the Journal of Shoulder and Elbow Surgery.

Dr. Simovitch attended Duke University for his undergraduate education. He returned back to Duke University Medical Center where he completed his Orthopedic residency. Following his residency at Duke, Dr. Simovitch was awarded the prestigious Harvard Intercontinental Shoulder Fellowship. During this fellowship he trained at the Massachusetts General Hospital on the Harvard Shoulder Service and at Uniklinik Balgrist in Zurich, Switzerland. Dr. Simovitch prides himself on being able to take care of patients with all shoulder conditions, whether they are related to a sports injury, degenerative changes or trauma. With his experience and training, Dr. Simovitch is able to use the latest techniques and principles to arthroscopically repair large and massive rotator cuff tears, arthroscopically repair labral tears, perform open instability surgery, perform tendon transfers, perform shoulder replacements including both anatomic and reverse, perform revision shoulder replacements and stabilize fractures of the clavicle and humerus when needed.
