Patrick Donnelly, PhD

Patrick Donnelly joined the Hospital for Special Surgery as a Postdoctoral Fellow in 2014. He studies the chemistry at the interface between articular cartilage and implants with Dr. Suzanne Maher, focusing on the design of implants that form stable, strong interfaces to tissue. He obtained a BS in Chemistry from the University of Scranton (Scranton, PA) in 2009 and a PhD in Chemistry from Princeton University (Princeton, NJ). Dr. Donnelly’s doctoral research focused on designing chemically modified surfaces that could direct the behavior of cells and the assembly of extracellular matrix under the direction of Professor Jeffrey Schwartz.
