Clinical Research Highlights

The Department of Anesthesiology, Critical Care & Pain Management is noted for its pioneering research into regional anesthesia for orthopedic procedures, and continues to build on that legacy. Each year, the division publishes more than 100 pieces of research in top-tier science journals.

• Stavros Memtsoudis, MD, PhD, and perioperative research fellows Crispiana Cozowicz, MD and Lucas Piccler, MD, won second and third place for their abstracts at the 2017 Sleep and Anesthesia Medicine Forum.
• Stephen Haskins, MD, published a multi-part series on the importance of point-of-care ultrasound for pain specialists, anesthesiologists, and critical care physicians in Regional Anesthesia and Pain Medicine (RAPM).
• Ellen Soffin, MD, PhD, Seth Waldman, MD, and Gregory Liguori, MD, were featured in the November special issue of Anesthesia & Analgesia with their publication detailing hospital response to the opioid epidemic.
