The Department of Anesthesiology is dedicated to the practice of regional anesthesia and pain medicine, and is committed to educating the next generation of experts in the field. More than 40,000 anesthetic procedures were performed in 2016 -- nearly 90% of those procedures employed regional anesthesia.

Application Requirements

  • Complete, and print application (download here)
  • Current curriculum vitae (CV)
  • Official diploma and medical school transcript (transcript should be sent directly from medical school)
  • Personal statement: A brief narrative describing your interest in the Fellowship program
  • Academic activities essay: A brief description describing proposed scholarly activity during the Fellowship year
  • One letter of reference from the Director of the candidate’s anesthesiology residency program
  • Two additional letters of recommendation

Selected Candidates will be invited to interview with the Department Director and members of the Fellowship Committee. As a part of the interview process, Candidates will have the opportunity to meet with current Fellows who will answer questions and share their experiences at HSS. Interview invitations are extended after a review of the candidate’s completed application.
