The Department of Anesthesiology is dedicated to the practice of regional anesthesia and pain medicine, and is committed to education the next generation of experts in the field. More than 35,000 anesthetic procedures were performed in 2015 -- nearly 90% of those procedures employed regional anesthesia.

To be considered for the Fellowship, all applications must include:

  • Current curriculum vitae (CV)
  • Official medical school transcript and diploma
  • Personal statement: A brief narrative describing your interest in the Fellowship program
  • Academic activities essay: A brief description describing the independent academic activities you wish to embark on during your Fellowship year
  • One letter of reference from the Director of your current training program
  • Two additional letters of recommendation
  • Completed application

Selected candidates will be invited to interview with the Department Director and members of the Fellowship Committee. As a part of the interview process, candidates will have the opportunity to meet with current Fellows who will answer questions and share their experiences at HSS. Interview invitations are extended after a review the candidate’s application.
