In his new role, Dr. Rich will work with the Alumni Affairs committee to guide and execute strategic initiatives to support the growing network. He encourages alumni to renew their ties to HSS by returning for the Alumni Meeting or through electronic outreach. "With the advent of electronic communications, web broadcasts, podcasts and email it will be much easier to exchange information over large distances, making the network even more valuable to our alumni," he says.
Dr. Rich received his undergraduate degree from Harvard College and medical degree from Harvard Medical School. He completed his residency at Roosevelt Hospital (1978-1979) and HSS (1979-1982). Dr. Rich specializes in hip and knee Surgery and is an Assistant Attending Orthopaedic Surgeon at HSS, and an Associate Attending Orthopaedic Surgeon at North Shore University Hospital and Long Island Jewish Medical Center. He has also been an instructor in surgery at Cornell University Medical College since 1983, and was appointed as Clinical Assistant Professor in Orthopaedic Surgery in 2005.
Aside from his involvement in the Alumni Association, Dr. Rich is an active member of the American College of Surgeons, American Medical Association, American Academy of Orthopaedics Surgeons, and the American Association of Hip and Knee Surgeons, among other societies.
