T'ai Chi Chih® with Carolyn Hales Perkins
This class is suitable for beginners as well as former students who wish to keep up their practice of T'ai Chi Chih. Practiced as a moving meditation, gentle warm-ups and flowing movements assist in promoting circulation and balance of the body's vital energy (Chi) as well as allowing participants to experience a sense of relaxation, heightened energy and overall well-being. T'ai Chi Chih can be a useful aid for healing while enhancing immune system functioning, decreasing inflammation and improving flexibility. Participants should wear comfortable clothing and flat shoes (or socks/bare feet).

T'ai Chi for Better Balance with Carolyn Hales Perkins
This class offers the participant a specially designed program of simple movements in order to decrease the risk of falls by strengthening and improving balance. Adapted from Qigong and T'ai Chi forms, walking and chair exercises are incorporated so that participants may be able to utilize selected postures at home in addition to class. Must have MD Consent.

Pilates Mat with Sarah Faller
Pilates mat exercises improve overall strength and flexibility. Emphasizing proper alignment, these exercises will help you to move with greater ease and feel rejuvenated. Enjoy the other activities in your life with increased energy, vitality and comfort. This class is not recommended for persons with recent musculoskeletal injuries. You must be able to get onto and off the floor comfortably to participate in the class.

Pilates for Better Bones with Sarah Faller
Pilates for Better Bones is a specifically designed class for women with osteopenia or osteoporosis. Focus will be on building core strength, improving balance, increasing flexibility and learning proper body mechanics. The class will be held in a small group setting which will allow students to utilize the Pilates equipment.
**Prerequisites: All participants must provide MD consent, including diagnosis, medical clearance for participation, and a prescription for a physical therapy evaluation (which is covered by most insurance). Participants are then screened for eligibility for the class by an HSS physical therapist.

Pilates for Golf with Sarah Faller
Back by popular demand…the Pilates for Golf seminar will be repeated in June. Class will consist of floor and freestanding exercises designed to improve one’s golf game. Participants will work with Pilates Magic Circles and stability balls for optimal conditioning. Focus will be placed on reducing muscle imbalances and increasing rotation through hips and legs to achieve a smooth, controlled, powerful swing.
**Please note: This class is designed for the normal, healthy person. If you have any special health conditions or concerns, MD consent is required.

YogaLates with Eve Delachartre
YogaLates is a popular form of exercise that blends the best of Yoga and Pilates. Yoga is known for improving breathing and flexibility, reducing stress and balancing body, mind and spirit. Pilates builds up core strength in the abdomen through muscle strengthening and toning. When combined, both techniques help to improve stamina and posture, and promote an overall sense of well-being. Please wear stretchy exercise clothes. Must have MD consent.

OsteoFitness with Jennifer Kopach
This six-class series is designed specifically for individuals with osteoporosis or osteopenia (low bone mass). The classes follow the Hospital for Special Surgery/Rehabilitation Department's 5 Point Program, focusing on posture, flexibility, strengthening, weight-bearing, and balance. Participants are asked to wear comfortable clothes. In order to encourage participants to continue their exercise at home, each individual receives illustrations and descriptions of exercises.

Yoga Basics with Natalie Ulrich
Learn the fundamentals of alignment and breathing in a small group setting. This class incorporates basic postures, restorative poses, breathing techniques, and balance exercises into a sequence of flowing movements. You will notice an immediate improvement in your posture, and you'll learn how to better manage your stress levels. This class is appropriate for beginners as well as those with yoga experience.

Gentle Yoga with Diana Lapiano
Experience the benefits of yoga in a small group setting. Basic postures, breathing exercises, meditation and visualization are incorporated in this class which is suitable for anyone—all movements can be modified and adapted to suit the needs of each participant.
