Course Description: This one day course provided an overview of the use of video capillaroscopy in connective tissue disease along with experience using this technology in patients.

Maurizio Cutolo, MD, is Full Professor of Rheumatology and Internal Medicine, Director Research Laboratories, Academic Division of Clinical Rheumatology and Postgraduate School of Rheumatology-University of Genova-Italy.
President of EULAR (European Society for Rheumatology), President of ILAR (International Leagues Associations of Rheumatology). Past-Chairman of the EULAR Standing Committee for Education and Training (ESCET).
Co-founder of the Study Groups on NeuroenocrineImmunology of the Rheumatic Diseases (past chairman 1999) and on Capillaroscopy and Rheumatic Diseases (cochairman 2010) at the American College of Rheumatology (ACR). Chairman of the 6 EULAR International Courses on Capillaroscopy in Rheumatology (2004-06-08-10-12-14).
Member of the editorial Board of Ann Rheum Dis. and Associate Editor of Clinical and Exp Rheumatology.
Member of the ACR (1985), British Society for Rheumatology (1986), Honorary Member of the Hungarian Society for Rheumatology (2010) and of the Russian Society for Rheumatology (2011).
Major interest of his research are sex hormones and rheumatic diseases, circadian rhythms and glucocorticoids, capillaroscopy in systemic sclerosis, vitamin D endocrine system implication in inflammation and immune response, therapy with biological DMARDs in rheumatoid arthritis.
MC is author of the chapter “Neuroendocrine immunology in rheumatic diseases” in the EULAR Compendium on Rheumatic Diseases (2009-2012, chapt 50 BMJ), the chapter “Arthritis Accompanying Endocrine and Metabolic Disorders” in the Kelley's Textbook of Rheumatology 9th edition (2012, chap 121, Elsevier), the chapter “Effects of the Neuroendocrine System on Development and Function of the Immune System” in Rheumatology textbook - Fifth edition (2010, chap 24, Elsevier).
MC is Editor of the first textbook on capillaroscopy entitled: Atlas of capillaroscopy in Rheumatic Diseases - Elsevier 2010 under the aegis of EULAR and author more of 400 papers (source PUBMED).

Dr. V Smith, MD, PhD, is head of clinics at the department of Rheumatology, Ghent University hospital Belgium. Her major interests are systemic sclerosis and capillaroscopy.
