Dr. Emma Jane MacDermott specializes in Pediatric Rheumatology. She completed her medical degree at Trinity College Dublin in 1996, and continued her pediatric training in Ireland. She has been a member of the Royal College of Physicians of Ireland since 2001, with specialty training in Medicine of Childhood. Dr. MacDermott joined Hospital for Special Surgery in 2005 when she began a fellowship in Pediatric Rheumatology.

Her clinical practice is geared towards children with juvenile arthritis and systemic autoimmune diseases, including systemic lupus erythematosus, scleroderma, dermatomyositis and vasculitis of childhood. She combines her clinical practice with continued involvement in research, with particular interest in the role of Interferon and other biomarkers in systemic lupus erythematosus and systemic sclerosis.
