Alejandro Gonzalez Della Valle, MD

Dr. Alejandro Gonzalez Della Valle has been fully devoted to orthopedic surgery of the hip and the knee for the last decade. He has surgically treated over 3,000 patients with different hip and knee disorders.

Born in Buenos Aires, Argentina, Dr. Gonzalez Della Valle graduated with honors from the University of Buenos Aires in 1992. He trained in Hospital Italiano de Buenos Aires and at the Hospital for Special Surgery.

He has received research grants from the Orthopaedic Research and Education Foundation, the American Hip Society, and the Knee Society. He has also received numerous awards including the Acta Orthopaedics Scandinavica Research Award; the Sir John Charnley Award, which is awarded by the American Hip Society; and the Nicholas Andry Award, which is awarded by the American Association of Bone and Joint Surgeons.

Dr. Gonzalez Della Valle is a peer reviewer for seven medical journals including the prestigious Journal of Bone and Joint Surgery and Clinical Orthopedics and Related Research. He has published over 70 manuscripts on orthopaedic surgery and surgery of the hip and the knee; this includes four book chapters. He lectures extensively in and out of the United States.

Hip and knee early and late osteoarthritis, congenital hip dysplasia, rheumatoid arthritis, lupus, avascular necrosis, fractures, and sequelae of hip conditions such as Perthe’s disease and slipped capital femoral epiphysis

Primary hip and knee arthroplasty and revision hip and knee surgery to address acute or late failures of total hip and knee arthroplasties (prosthetic infection, loosening, dislocations/instability, painful stiff knee replacement, periprosthetic fractures, as well as mechanical failure of the implants)

Adult non-arthroplasty reconstructive and reparative procedures including osteotomies for hip and knee deformities, bone grafting for avascular necrosis, and arthroscopy.


Research Interests

Dr. González Della Valle is currently pursuing research into factors affecting speed of recovery.
