The Public and Patient Education Department provides programs geared specifically to meet the needs of children in New York City. Our Leon M. Root, MD Pediatric Outreach Program has screened thousands of children for musculoskeletal conditions. The Pediatric Outreach Program seeks to educate, screen, and treat children in medically underserved neighborhoods of New York City for musculoskeletal diseases and injuries. The Pediatric Health Care Coalition (PHCC) is made up of community members from health care organizations focused on improving the health and well being of New York City children. Recognition of a high prevalence rate of nutritional issues amongst New York City children encouraged pediatric education to begin addressing this public health issue via the multi-lingual SNEAKER© Project (Super Nutrition Education for All Kids to Eat Right).
