Surgical Arthritis Service
The Surgical Arthritis Service is an innovative multidisciplinary program designed to provide comprehensive care for patients with severe inflammatory arthritis. The Service draws on expertise from HSS’ two major divisions: orthopedic surgery and rheumatology.
They treat patients with rheumatoid arthritis; aggressive, multi-joint arthritis; other types of inflammatory arthritis; and other autoimmune diseases. Their patients benefit from the interdisciplinary approach taken by the Service’s physicians and surgeons, who work with a dedicated team of medical and orthopedic residents and fellows, nurses, physical and occupational therapists, and social workers. Together, these professionals address the medical and surgical needs of patients as well as provide resources and support for their patients’ everyday activities.
