Phils await reevaluations on Utley, Polanco

MLB.com —June 30, 2010

The Phillies could have a better idea Thursday how long Chase Utley and Placido Polanco will be on the disabled list.

Utley, who is on the DL with a sprained right thumb, and Polanco, who is on the DL with inflammation in his left elbow, will be in New York on Thursday for further evaluations. Orthopedist Steven Cohen examined Polanco on Tuesday in Philadelphia. He will get a second opinion Thursday from sports medicine and orthopedic surgeon David Altchek of Hospital for Special Surgery in New York.

Utley saw hand specialist Randall Culp on Wednesday in Philadelphia. He will get a second opinion Thursday from hand specialist Andrew Weiland, also at Hospital for Special Surgery.
