Spine Surgeon Leader to Know: Dr. Bernard Rawlins of Hospital for Special Surgery

Bernard Rawlins, MD, is a board-certified orthopedic spine surgeon who treats a wide range of spinal disorders, including cervical spine and scoliosis in patients of all ages.

His spinal expertise includes multiplanar revision deformity surgery, minimally invasive spine, cervical spine trauma spondylosis and disc surgery, spondylolysis, lumbar herniations, cervical herniations and spinal stenosis.

Dr. Rawlins researches the mechanics of intervertebral disc and the design of instrumentation for spine surgery. He has been extensively published in scientific journals on spine surgery and procedures.

He has an interest in sports injuries and serves as the spine consultant for the New York Knicks and Mets.

Dr. Rawlins received his medical degree from Cornell University Medical School and completed an orthopedic residency at Columbia Presbyterian Medical Center. He completed a spine surgery fellowship at the Minnesota Spine Center.

He's a member of many organizations, such as the Cervical Spine Research Society, National Board of Medical Examiners, Orthopaedic Research Society and North American Spine Society.
