Oberholser out for season after hand surgery

golfweek.com—May 14, 2010

Arron Oberholser underwent successful surgery on his left hand on Thursday.

It was the third time Oberholser required surgery on his left hand, and it is expected to keep him out the remainder of the golf season.
Hand surgery is becoming quite common among golfers. It was performed by hand specialist Dr. Andrew Weiland of Hospital for Special Surgery in New York, who conducted similar surgeries on Jim Furyk, Luke Donald and Trevor Immelman.

Oberholser said he was told the injury wasn’t career-threatening and he was very confident that he should be able to come back and play at a high level.

“I asked the doctor point blank: ‘Can I come back and be a top-50 player in the world again?’ He said, ‘Yes. It will take time.’ I believe him. I have to believe him.”
