New York Mets pitcher Jenrry Mejia leaves eventual 8-7 win early, leaves ballpark to undergo MRI

Henry Blanco could see the anguish on Jenrry Mejia's face, but at first the catcher thought the pitcher had just landed awkwardly in a hole in the mound. But, as has been the case for most of this Mets Season of Horrors, the news was worse - the problem was in Mejia's valuable right arm.

Mejia came out of his third major-league start Wednesday night in obvious discomfort after bouncing a pitch to Pittsburgh's Andrew McCutchen in the third inning, and the Mets said their top pitching prospect had suffered an "acute strain of a muscle in the back of his shoulder." He was slated to undergo further evaluation Wednesday night and left the ballpark to have an MRI exam at Hospital for Special Surgery.
