Mets lose Putz for 10-12 weeks

New York Mets reliever J.J. Putz had surgery Tuesday to remove a bone spur and fragments of bone from his right (pitching) elbow.

Putz, 32, had the procedure performed at Hospital for Special Surgery in New York City.

He is likely to resume throwing in six weeks and hopes to return to the lineup in 10 to 12 weeks.
