Love undergoes successful knee surgery

Yardbarker/USA Today—April 10, 2013

The Timberwolves announced Wednesday evening that Kevin Love underwent successful arthroscopy on his left knee earlier in the day. The surgery, performed by Dr. David Altchek at Hospital for Special Surgery in New York, was to remove a buildup of scar tissue in the joint, and a typical recovery time is between four and six weeks.

Doctors also removed the metal plate placed in Love's broken right hand from January 15 surgery.

Love began complaining of pain in his left knee, which eventually spread to his hip, while playing in November and December before re-breaking his right hand on Jan. 3. The initial plan was for Love to play through the pain, but when his recovery from Jan. 15 hand surgery dragged on and the knee pain worsened, the team elected on Monday to have the forward undergo the arthroscopy before season's end.
