Minnesota Timberwolves: Kevin Love set for surgery on Tuesday

St. Paul (Minn.) Pioneer Press—January 14, 2013

Timberwolves forward Kevin Love, who undergoes surgery Tuesday, Jan. 15, to repair the third and fourth metacarpal bones in his right hand, likely will play the fewest games in a season in his five-year NBA career.

Love is expected to be sidelined for eight to 10 weeks after the surgery, which could keep him out of the lineup until at least mid-March.

The surgery on Love's right hand will be performed by Dr. Michelle Carlson at Hospital for Special Surgery in New York.

New York hand specialist Dr. Andy Weiland recommended the surgery after Love reinjured his hand in the third quarter of a Jan. 3 game at Denver.
