At Hospital Gala, Doctors and Actors Who Play Them

The Hospital for Special Surgery Gala is always a good place to swap scar stories. Talk of cartilage, drilling holes through bone and hapless spinal discs didn't seem to keep anyone from digging heartily into bloody steaks at the Waldorf Astoria.

Featured in the article are, PepsiCo Chairman and CEO Indra Nooyi and Lou Shapiro, president and CEO of Hospital for Special Surgery.

Brian Williams, the night's emcee, joked while presenting an X-ray showing an undulating outline of his knee: "That's my wife on vacation." The annual dinner raised $2.5 million.

Sitting near his surgeon, actor David McCallum ("NCIS") said nearly everyone in his family has been treated at the hospital.

Meanwhile, Peter Jacobson, the actor who plays Dr. Chris Taub on "House," mingled with the room full of real doctors.
