D’Arnaud Won’t Fully Blame Woes on Spur

Travis d’Arnaud threw out only 19.4 percent of would-be base stealers last season. Among catchers with at least 100 games, only Miami’s Jarrod Saltalamacchia (19.1 percent) and Oakland’s Derek Norris (16.7 percent) fared worse.

Yet d’Arnaud did not want to fault- at least fully- the bone spur in his right elbow that was surgically removed on Sept. 30 at Hospital for Special Surgery in Manhattan. D’Arnaud said the issue only became noticeable to him in August.
