Cora's season over with surgeries

Mets Blog, New York Post—August 18, 2009

The Mets today put infielder Alex Cora on the 15-day disabled list, retroactive to Aug. 13, with ligament injuries to his right and left thumbs.

Cora has decided to have surgery to repair the ligament on both thumbs and will have the first procedure Thursday at Hospital for Special Surgery by Dr. Andrew Weiland.

Cora will have surgery on the right thumb first, wait five weeks, then have the left thumb repaired.
