Integrative Care Center

ICC Pilates

The Pilate’s Studio at the ICC offers a unique experience to all its clients. Each client receives authentic Pilates instruction by a highly qualified instructor with experience working specifically with a rehabilitative population. Patients transitioning from therapy to Pilates are put to ease by our safe and friendly environment. Our instructors work with each client in collaboration with the referring MD/PT as needed. Finally, a one-of-a-kind exercise program will be designed to facilitate the client in achieving their goals.

The Pilates Method focuses on developing core strength, increasing flexibility and improving posture. It is extremely adaptable. For example, a program at the Integrative Care Center can be designed for a patient with a hip replacement but can also be geared to give even the most serious of athletes an efficient, challenging workout. Since Pilates is a gentle, low impact form of exercise with an emphasis on control, it is also an ideal choice for those recovering from injury, orthopedic surgery, chronic pain (especially lower back), scoliosis and osteoporosis among other conditions.

Pilates can be effective in:

  • Strengthening core muscles (abdominals, lower back,
    and buttocks)
  • Increasing flexibility
  • Improving posture
  • Relieving chronic pain
  • Reducing stress
