Ultrasound and MRI in the Early Diagnosis of Joint Damage in Rheumatoid Arthritis

Course Description

Statement of Need
This program will provide a comprehensive review of the use of ultrasound and MRI in the early diagnosis of joint damage and synovitis in rheumatoid arthritis, and review the clinical implications of early diagnosis. The American College of Rheumatology has identified Ultrasound techniques as a high priority educational issue in rheumatology, and the use of advanced modalities in the early diagnosis in rheumatoid arthritis has been a key area of abstract submission at the last several meetings of the American College of Rheumatology meetings. The use of disease modifying agents in rheumatoid arthritis is influenced by the prognosis of each patient, and the ability to identify patients with an early pattern of joint damage has been identified as a key goal in rheumatology practice.

Target Audience
This program is designed to educate health care professionals including Rheumatologists, Radiologists, Primary Care Physicians, Orthopaedic Surgeons, Residents and Fellows.
