Patient Case History: Marcel

Tibial Lengthening and Deformity Correction

Pre-Op

Patient Surgeon: S. Robert Rozbruch
Marcel suffered a tibia fracture and was treated in a cast. The bone healed with 2 cm of shortening and deformity (10 degrees valgus and 10 degrees of external rotation). He had back pain and felt off-balance.

Post-Op

We performed an osteotomy for lengthening and deformity correction and applied an Ilizarov/Taylor-Spatial Frame. After one month of frame adjustment, the lengthening and deformity correction were complete.

Follow-Up

The bone was healed at 4 months and the frame was removed. He is very pleased with the deformity correction and the length equalization and is back to all of his activities.
