The Effect of Hip Resurfacing on Anterior Femoral offset in Patients with Cam Impingement

Principle Investigator

Edwin P. Su, MD

Scope

This is a retrospective clinical study examining a cohort of patients who had osteoarthritis of the hip secondary to cam impingement and underwent hip resurfacing arthroplasty.  The study involves the review of medical records, and pre- and post-operative radiographs, specifically looking at the anterior femoral offset and alpha angles.  Students will have the opportunity to shadow the surgeon in the office and operating room to learn a hip examination, interpret radiographs, observe hip resurfacing surgery, and create a database for research analysis. This study is IRB approved.
