Analysis of Thrombogenic Markers Released during Hip Arthroplasty: A Comparison Between Hip Resurfacing and Total Hip Replacement

Scope
This is a prospective clinical study examining whether there is a difference in the amount of circulating markers of thrombogenesis released during the 2 operations. The study involves the testing of blood samples using microarray assays. Students will have the opportunity to assist in the testing of samples and analyze the data. In addition, students can shadow the surgeon in the office and operating room to learn a hip examination, interpret radiographs, and observe hip resurfacing surgery. This study is IRB approved.
